Crossroads project – user assessment
Crossroads is a Resource funded project that is working across the library, museum and archive domains to develop a unique access route to the collections held in the West Midlands. The project aims to investigate and create a working model for a cross-domain, web-enabled database of collection level descriptions for all types of museums, archives and libraries in the region. Its main purpose is to create a model database architecture that will help improve access to the collections and resources across in the West Midlands.
CIRT’s role is the design of questionnaires to assist in usability testing of the prototype Crossroads website. The first of these is to assess the user interface including ease of searching, level of information provided etc, whilst the second questionnaire addresses the needs of staff inputting collection descriptions into the resource.
